    Hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) is a highly toxic, corrosive gas commonly found in crude oil and natural gas streams. Removing it is essential for safety, asset integrity, and meeting sales specifications.

    Engineering Calculation: H₂S Scavenger Requirement

    Scenario: 1 MMSCFD gas flow with 500 ppmv H₂S

    Step 1: H₂S volume per day
    H₂S volume = 1,000,000 scf/day × (500 / 1,000,000) = 500 scf/day

    Step 2: Convert to lb-mol
    lb-mol H₂S/day = 500 / 379.5 = 1.317 lb-mol/day

    Step 3: Convert to mass
    H₂S mass = 1.317 × 34.08 lb/lb-mol = 44.9 lb/day ≈ 20.4 kg/day

    Step 4: Estimate scavenger requirement
    Assuming 2–4 L of product per kg H₂S removed:
    Daily scavenger = 20.4 kg/day × 2 to 4 L/kg = 40.8 to 81.6 L/day
